REVAMP Africa Wins ACT Foundation Grant to Reach 7,000 Students Across Nigeria
We are proud to announce that REVAMP Africa has been awarded a grant by the ACT Foundation to implement our Values and Leadership Development Programme (VLDP) across Nigeria. This partnership will enable us to reach 7,000 students from 10 public secondary schools in 5 states, bringing structured, values-based leadership education to young Nigerians who need it most.
This grant received for the third time represents a significant milestones in our organisation's journey since we began in 2016. It is a vote of confidence in our model, our team, and most importantly, in the potential of the young people we serve.
About the Values and Leadership Development Programme
The Values and Leadership Development Programme is built for secondary school students in public schools across Nigeria. It equips young people with practical tools for academic excellence, strong character, healthy relationships, and personal leadership. In a world where young voices matter more than ever, VLDP gives students the structure, language, and confidence to step into leadership in their schools and communities.
The programme runs over six months and uses a carefully structured 10-module curriculum that combines dynamic workshops, peer discussions, and hands-on activities. Topics covered include Values and Morality, Goal Setting, Time Management, Class Participation, Interpersonal Relationships, and more. Experienced mentors and professionals from across various fields guide students through each module, bringing real-world insight into the classroom.
What Makes This Programme Different
VLDP is grounded in experiential learning. Students do not simply sit and listen. They immerse themselves in real-world scenarios, work on collaborative projects, and hear directly from leaders who have made a difference in education, business, public service, and community development.
This hands-on approach produces results that go beyond test scores. Participating students consistently show improvement in their academic performance, behaviour, attendance, and ability to contribute positively to their school communities.
"When a young person discovers their values and understands their potential, they do not just become better students. They become better people."
What This Year's Programme Includes
The ACT Foundation-funded cohort builds on the strongest elements of our existing VLDP model while introducing three powerful additions designed to deepen impact and reach:
National Essay Competition
Students from all participating schools will take part in a national essay competition, providing a platform for their voices to be heard beyond the classroom. This initiative develops critical thinking, written communication, and the ability to articulate ideas on issues that matter to them and their communities.
Social Impact Challenge
Teams of students will identify a challenge in their school or community and design a practical solution to address it. The Social Impact Challenge builds entrepreneurial thinking, teamwork, and the kind of civic responsibility that stays with a young person long after the programme ends.
Teacher Training
A trained teacher is a multiplier. As part of this cohort, we will train educators at each participating school in values-based facilitation, equipping them to reinforce VLDP principles in their everyday teaching and sustain the programme's impact well beyond our direct engagement.
About the ACT Foundation
The ACT Foundation is a leading Nigerian philanthropic organisation committed to creating sustainable impact across health, education, and economic empowerment. Their decision to invest in REVAMP Africa's Values and Leadership Development Programme reflects a shared belief that character and leadership are as important to a child's development as any academic subject.
REVAMP Africa is a registered Nigerian non-profit working since 2016 to raise the next generation of young leaders and entrepreneurs. Through flagship programmes in leadership, digital inclusion, environmental education, and school infrastructure, we have reached over 200,000 young people across 28 states in Nigeria.
Looking Ahead
Implementation begins in the coming weeks. Over the next six months, our team will be on the ground in five states, working with 10 public secondary schools and 7,000 students to deliver one of the most comprehensive iterations of VLDP we have ever run.
We will be sharing updates from schools, stories from students, highlights from the national essay competition, and outcomes from the Social Impact Challenge right here on our blog and across our social media channels. We invite you to follow along, share our progress, and celebrate every milestone with us.
To the ACT Foundation: thank you for believing in this work and in the young people at the heart of it. To our team, partners, and school communities: let us get to work.
