Infertility can feel like a profoundly lonely journey. It’s an experience often shrouded in silence, where words can fail us. You may find yourself grappling with the pain of uncertainty, unsure of how to share your feelings with family and friends.
A daunting question arises: How can I possibly explain to those I care about that I’m not certain if I’ll ever have children? The truth is, they may not fully understand the depth of what you’re going through, the heartache that accompanies trying to conceive without success, all while the relentless passage of time reminds you of what you desire.
Infertility touches a significant segment of the global population. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 17% of couples worldwide face infertility, which represents approximately 48.5 million couples seeking hope and answers. It’s important to recognize that about 9% of men and 10% of women aged 15 to 44 experience infertility issues.
In the United States, about 10% of women of childbearing age encounter difficulties with conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to term.
What you’re feeling is valid, and you are not alone. Infertility can affect individuals and couples from all walks of life, regardless of age, gender, or background. If you or someone you know is navigating this challenging path, please know that there are resources available to offer support and guidance.
