We are resolute in our quest to reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty in Nigeria.
One of the predominant issues in Nigeria is the high level of poverty, with unemployment serving as its principal root cause. According to a poverty assessment test conducted by the World Bank in the post-COVID economy, the poverty line of Nigerians has increased from 40% in 2020 to 45% in 2022.
Many of the young people in public secondary schools drop out of school or do not further their studies due to economic reasons.
They end up taking menial jobs or become easy prey to be groomed for illegal businesses and/or social vices.
The TYES programme develops the capacity of underserved teenagers and youths, who cannot further their studies for economic reasons.
It equips them with technical, soft and business skills to become self-employed.
The platform allows for them to become self-sufficient to pursue their dreams, continue higher education, even when there is little or no external financial support.
The TYES programme approach will help these young ones gain both financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills.
1. To provide vocational skills training to underserved youths aged 13 to 35.
2. To help youths acquire marketable skills, leading to greater employment opportunities and enabling them to start their businesses. Ultimately, we want to lift them out of poverty.
3. By creating a platform for youths to build competencies, we aim to help them become self-sufficient, and make meaningful contributions on their terms.
We firmly believe that through this initiative, we will inspire and empower these young people to realise their full potential, while reducing unemployment and poverty in Nigeria.
Our financial literacy workshops are designed to educate teenagers and youths on fundamentals regarding money.
Financial literacy is important because it equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills they need to make, manage, and multiply money effectively.
Through our partnership with Access Bank over 3 years, over 30,000 teens and youths around the six geo-political zones in Nigeria have participated in our financial literacy workshops.
